Pets and Carpet

One of the biggest considerations for pet-owners when purchasing carpet is finding the right one to suit your furry friend. We have put together a guide of things to consider and how you can keep your carpet looking its best.

Wool is durable and has stain resistant properties. However solution dyed nylon is the best when it comes to stain protection. Our Siren range is our only carpet to have a 20 domestic pet stain resistance*.

If your pet (particularly cats) are prone to clawing then opt for carpet without loops, as these can potentially snag on your pets’ claws.

There are two ways to consider what carpet colour is best for you. One is to pick a colour that is as close as possible to your pet’s hair, to minimise the appearance of any dropped pet hair in between vacuuming. The other is to go with a mid to dark shade to lessen the visual appearance of residual stain marks over time.

Carpet care and maintenance

Using doormats at entranceways can help to catch any excess dirt or debris your pets bring inside.
Clean up stains and accidents as soon as possible to prevent the substance from reaching the pile and causing more permanent damage. For more information on how to tackle stains on your carpet, check out our carpet care section.
Ensure your dog’s nails are trimmed and maintained to minimise the impact on the carpet.

Ayana House is an impeccably finished family home designed with every detail in mind.  Designed for the Director of The Designory, Melissa Bonney, and her family as their latest project and home, this project was a full renovation from the front exterior through to the new pool gracing the backyard and everything in between.
We interviewed Melissa Bonney to find out why she chose Galet in the colour Cinder for the project.
"The loop pile wool carpet is so soft and luxurious that it was the perfect way to add an instant luxe element to the home - and where better to do that than throughout the bedrooms.

We love working with natural materials and when working on family homes we’re always conscious of making decisions that will withstand the demands a young family will make as well as be a “healthy” option for the home. Wool carpet is now well known for its benefits in reducing the symptoms of allergies and asthma which was a big factor for this house given the needs of the owners. The darker neutral tones of the colour Cinder are also the perfect complement to the Black American Walnut timber used through the home in flooring, joinery and accents, and provide a stunning contrast to the white flooring below".
