Bremworth & Te Papa

Bremworth was a proud supporting partner of Surrealist Art: Masterpieces from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen at Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand from 12 Jun – 31 Oct 2021.

This incredible exhibition featured 180 pieces including artworks by Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington, René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp. The collection is from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and includes a range of different work such as sculpture, paintings, graphic designs, furniture, and photography. One of the iconic pieces in this renowned collection is Dalí's Mae West Lips Sofa (1938).

Bremworth had the honour of making a custom black wool carpet for the exhibition space, a beautiful black dense and lush cut pile carpet to help immerse visitors into a surrealist world.

"Bremworth were an amazing partner because they took on the creative challenge of creating a carpet for the exhibition that would be really transformative. Diving into the inky black of beautiful carpet and being able to weave that in New Zealand wool was an incredible journey that they went on with us."
