WE TALK SUSTAINABILITY & CUSTOMISABLE RUGS WITH DANNI DUNCAN
We recently partnered with Danni Duncan, a conscious fashion advocate on social media challenging consumers to make better ethical choices regarding everyday purchases. We love that she uses her platform to educate her audience on sustainability and share content from like-minded brands that are also working hard in this space. So how do you create beautiful and comfortable spaces in your home whilst being as ethical as possible?
Let's use Danni's recent personal project as an example. Like many of us, Danni and her partner live in a rental, which comes with its obvious limitations of how far you can take a home redecoration project. She wanted to breathe a new lease of life into the heart of the house, her living room, and had to cook up some creative rental-friendly ways to achieve something she would be happy with.

Looking beyond the constraints of being unable to recarpet her rental, Danni opted to bring a large custom-sized rug which completely transformed the space. Finding the right rug can be tricky. Our customisable wool rugs are made with 100% NZ wool making them the natural fit for any home. Danni went with our Levante Rug in Parchment, a warm neutral colour, to suit her bright and tranquil interior. She chose overlocked edging for a clean, minimal look, keeping the focus on the texture and colour of her rug.
We had the pleasure of chatting with Danni where she gave us insights into sustainable living and why she chose Bremworth customisable wool rugs to transform her space.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOMING A MORE CONSCIOUS CONSUMER?
“I watched ‘The True Cost’, a documentary about the fashion industry and the negative impact it has on the planet and people. It challenged me to consider my own impact and make changes in the way I was consuming. It started with fashion and from there I’ve been learning and making changes across the board.”
HOW IMPORTANT IS SUSTAINABILITY TO YOU?
“I’m very aware of climate change and the little time we have left to make a positive impact on our planet, so sustainability is really important. It can get really overwhelming though so my approach is to do things little by little so that I can actually sustain the changes I’m making.”
WHEN DID YOU START SHARING YOUR SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY WITH YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS AND WHAT HAS THE RESPONSE FROM YOUR AUDIENCE BEEN?
“I think around 2020 is when I started to explicitly talk about the fashion industry and I’ve been really conscious about never setting myself up as an expert, because I’m not. I think of myself as a bridge between those who know nothing and the new knowledge I’m learning. I’m just one or two steps ahead and I’m passionate about bringing people along that journey with me.”
WHY DID YOU WANT TO COLLABORATE WITH BREMWORTH WOOL CARPETS & RUGS?
“The first reason is they are just so beautiful! But of course I also love that Bremworth has values that align so well with my own and it’s also been a really good educational experience to learn about wool and all of the benefits to using it in our home.”
HOW DID YOU CUSTOMISE YOUR BREMWORTH WOOL RUG TO FIT YOUR SPACE AND WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE FOR YOUR NEW RUG?
“We are renters and as someone who works from home and really cares about my surroundings I was so sick of looking at the retro dark blue carpet situation we had. We wanted our rug to almost act as new carpet to hide what was underneath and it worked so well. It completely brightened up the room and made the space feel more elevated and cohesive.”
